What you will learn

  • You will learn a full stack, including the skills needed to become proficient front and back-end developers.

What are the dates of the programme?

  • The course begins 25 May 2021 and takes place on Monday/Wednesday -or- Tuesday/Thursday evenings, and Saturday day.

Can I keep working while studying at the University of Birmingham Coding Boot Camp?

  • Yes. The programme is designed for working professionals who are actively seeking career change.

How long is the course?

  • Students will complete the programme in six months.

Do you provide career planning support?

  • All of our students receive pre-graduation career support and coaching, and soft skills training and the support needed to strengthen their portfolio.
  • In order to qualify for post-graduation Career Services support, you must successfully complete the programme, have legal status to work in the UK and have an approved CV and portfolio of projects, completed and approved by Career Services four weeks prior to graduation.

Do I need to have previous experience in programming before enrolling?

  • No. While having some background can help, we have 50 hours of online pre-course tutorials that will get you up to speed and ready to start learning on Day 1.

What sets your boot camp apart from others I can join in Birmingham or elsewhere?

  • The Coding Boot Camp is a part time program that allows working professionals to study web development without leaving work.
  • Students benefit from a robust set of professional development services to prepare them for success as they work to advance or change careers.
  • The Coding Boot Camp curriculum is built based on the most in-demand technologies specific to the UK market.

How many hours a week is the programme?

  • You can expect to spend approximately 10-12 hours per week in class.
  • To be successful our students spend an average of an additional 20 hours per week preparing for class, completing homework and career services assignments.

What are the requirements to complete the programme?

  • In order to receive a certificate of completion for the programme, you must:
    • Fulfill your payment obligations prior to the end date of the programme.
    • Attend a minimum of 95% of the class sessions.
    • Complete 90% of your homework assignments, including 100% of all project work.
    • Homeworks and projects are graded.

What is the tuition fee?

  • The tuition fee is £7,200 including VAT.  
  • A deposit of £500 including VAT is required to secure your place in the programme.
  • There are no additional fees for textbooks or software.

What are the payment options?

  • A deposit of £500 including VAT is required to secure your place in the programme. Deposit payments can be made by Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.

What are the computer requirements?

  • You will be required to bring your own laptop, which meets the following requirements:
    • Windows at least 8 GB Ram with a dual core processor (64 bit)
    • Mac over 2 years old – 8 GB Ram and dual core processor
    • Mac under 2 years

What are the entry requirements?

  • In order to enrol on the programme:
    • You must be over 18 years of age.
    • You must have a GCSE grade A-C or 9-4 in Maths.
    • You must meet the English Language proficiency requirements outlined below.
    • You must have passed the admissions interview, coding test and academic interview.
    • You must have paid the deposit.

How do I prove my level of proficiency in English?

  • IELTS – minimum score of 6.5
  • TOEFL iBT (internet based test) – minimum score of 87
  • TOEFL (paper based) – minimum score of 570

Is the program accredited?

  • Students who successfully complete the boot camp will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from University of Birmingham. The programme is not accredited.
