Can I keep working while studying at the University of Birmingham Data Analytics Boot Camp?

Yes. The programme is designed for working professionals who are seeking to advance their current careers or change paths.

How long is the course?

Students will complete the programme in six months.

Do you provide career planning support?

  • Yes. We offer all of our students career support and coaching as well as CV and portfolio support, interview preparation and experiential learning opportunities.
  • In order to qualify for post-graduation Career Services support, you must successfully complete the programme, have legal status to work in the UK and have an approved CV and portfolio of projects, completed and approved by Career Services four weeks prior to graduation.

Do I need to have previous experience in programming or data analytics before applying?

  • No programming experience is required, however is recommended that applicants hold a Bachelor’s Degree or have at least two years of experience in business, management, finance, statistics, or a related field.

What sets your boot camp apart from others I can join in Birmingham or elsewhere?

  • We offer a part-time programme that allows working professionals to study data analytics and visualization without leaving their current job.
  • Students benefit from a robust set of professional development services to prepare them for success as they work to advance or change careers.
  • Our curriculum is built based on the most in-demand technologies specific to the UK market.

How many hours a week is the programme?

  • You can expect to spend approximately 10-12 hours per week in class.
  • To be successful our students spend an average of an additional 20 hours per week preparing for class, completing homework and career services assignments.

What are the requirements to complete the programme?

  • In order to receive a certificate of completion for the programme, you must:
    • Fulfill your payment obligations prior to the end date of the programme
    • Attend a minimum of 95% of the class sessions
    • Complete 90% of your homework assignments, including 100% of all project work
    • Homeworks and projects are graded

What is the tuition fee?

  • The tuition fee is £7,000 + VAT.
  • A deposit of £1,000 is required to secure your place in the programme.
  • There are no additional fees for textbooks or software.

What are the payment options?

  • A deposit of £1,000 is required to secure your place in the programme. Deposit payments can be made by Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.

What are the computer requirements?

  • You will be required to bring your own laptop, which meets the following requirements:
    • Windows at least 8 GB Ram with a dual core processor (64 bit)
    • Mac over two years old – 8 GB Ram and dual core processor
    • Mac under two years
    • Excel 2016 or later

What are the entry requirements?

  • In order to enrol on the programme:
    • You must be over 18 years of age.
    • You must have a GCSE grade A-C in Maths.
    • You must meet the English Language proficiency requirements outlined below.
    • You must have passed the admissions interview, coding test and academic interview.
    • You must have paid the deposit.

How do I prove my level of proficiency in English?

  • IELTS – minimum score of 6.5
  • TOEFL iBT (internet based test) – minimum score of 87
  • TOEFL (paper based) – minimum score of 570

Is the programme accredited?

  • Students who successfully complete the boot camp will be awarded a Certificate of Completion from University of Birmingham. The programme is not accredited.
